Claire Elise Boucher was born March 17, 1988. She's known as Grimes. [2][3] The range of her earlier music was described as "lo fi R&B" and "futuristic dance-pop". In addition, she has included elements of hip-hop electronic music, as well as rock. A lot of her songs have science fiction-related themes as well as feminist issues. Five albums have come out. Born and raised in Vancouver (later making the move into Montreal), Grimes began making music on her own at the end of the 2000s with two albums released, Geidi Primes and Halfaxa from 2010 with Arbutus Records. In 2012, Visions was her third studio album. She signed with 4AD. Visions contains the singles "Genesis", and "Oblivion" and won them an award called the Juno Award in Canada for Electronic Album of the year. [5] Following this, her fourth studio album, Art Angels, was released in 2015 and received the acclaim of critics, with several publications having declared it to be the top album of 2015. In 2020, she debuted Miss Anthropocene (her fifth studio album). Aside from music, Grimes had a voice role in the 2020 online action-role-playing video game Cyberpunk 2077 and is a judge on the competition for musicians game program Alter Ego.
